BREXIT and all that

Another exciting weekend – BREXIT, Jersey States v Guernsey States cricket match (we lost), the Royal Commonwealth Society Queen’s 90th Birthday Party and reading the 2015 Accounts for the States’ debate on Tuesday – I know which one I enjoyed the most.
Since Friday morning, many people have spoken to me about the momentous decision by the UK of leaving the EU. There is a lot of confidence that it represents a great opportunity for Guernsey as we already work closely with the EU. We can even offer guidance to the UK during the process of becoming a fellow third country.
Our priority, however, is to ensure we are able to re-negotiate Protocol 3. We need to nip in and start that conversation whilst the UK decides what it is going to do, when and how.
